Evidence and review policy

Editorial methodology

How we separate official claims, affiliate materials, and future hands-on testing.

What the current site can prove

The first version is built from current official product pages, support documents, storefront listings, and clearly identified affiliate materials. Every product record stores its source and last verification date.

That research can confirm what a vendor currently publishes. It cannot prove that every commercial disc, drive, operating-system build, menu, subtitle track, or audio chain will work.

What we do not claim

Research-based pages do not receive hands-on ratings. We do not write “we tested” unless the test record includes the software version, operating system, optical drive, disc type, date, result, and known limitation.

How recommendations are ordered

The Player Finder starts with the user’s device, media type, existing drive, and priority. Affiliate payout does not change the fit rules. A free option can rank ahead of a paid option when it better matches the request.

Update cycle

Software, offer, operating-system, and availability claims are reviewed at least every 90 days. A page can be marked as needing review sooner when a vendor changes a version, removes a feature, or stops selling a product.
