Troubleshooting

External Blu-ray Drive Not Detected

Verify power and operating-system detection before reinstalling Blu-ray software.

Confirm power and connection

Connect the drive directly to the computer with its supplied cable. Avoid an unpowered hub during diagnosis.

Check the operating system

On Windows, confirm that the drive appears in File Explorer or Device Manager. On Mac, check Disk Utility or System Information. If the system cannot see the drive, the player cannot use it.

Test more than one disc

Try a known-good DVD and standard Blu-ray when the model supports both. This helps separate a dead drive from a disc-type limitation.

Only then check the player

Select the correct optical-drive letter or device in the playback software. Reinstalling the player should not be the first step.
